Kokrajhar (Assam),Mar 25: With scarcity of hand sanitisers in the pharmaceutical stores in the state and especially in Bodoland Territorial Council areas for the past few days,common masses are facing problems in maintaining the basic health precautions in wake Corona Virus outbreak .
Recently, Kokrajhar Govt College prepared a hand sanitiser solution in its Chemistry laboratory and distributed among the people living in fringe area of the college.The initiative of the college got good response and was appreciated by the general public here .
On Wednesday, the department of food engineering and technology,Central institute of technology(CIT),Kokrajhar has come forward to combat COVID-19 by preparing a hand sanitiser solution as per World Health Organisation( WHO) recommendations at the institute’s laboratory here.
The hand sanitiser was prepared as per the World Health Organisation ( WHO) recommended formulations and now it will be distributed amongst the needy citizens of the region .
The sanitiser have been prepared in two formulations i.e prepared with composition of Ethanol (80%), Glycerol (1.45%), Hydrogen peroxide (0.125) and secondly prepared with Isopropyl alcohol (75%), Glycerol (1.45%) and hydrogen peroxide (0.125%).
To start with the CIT has prepared 5 ltrs of sanitisers today . With availability of raw materials as well chemicals more preparations of hand sanitiser solution would be undertaken in the laboratory.
Dr Anuck Islary of CIT , Kokrajhar told this correspondent that the CIT has prepared this solution to extend to create consciousness among the needy citizens during this hour of crisis .He said that guidelines from WHO were followed while preparing the solution.
” We could prepare only 5 litres as no more chemicals are required to produce on a large scale”,Dr Islary added.
