Kokrajhar (Assam),Feb 20: “We will participate in active politics in the coming days”, said general secretary of NDFB-Saoraigwra faction, B R Ferenga.
Ferenga along with his president B Saoraigwra,ABSU general secretary Lawrence Islary,UPPL president UG Brahma attended at a welcome ceremony for the Bodo peace accord signatories at Patgaon here today.
The NDFB is planning to organise a grand celebration after completion of 34 years of the organisation on Feb 24 next at Kapurpara in Udalguri district where all four factions of the NDFB would be attending the event.
The event is being organised by the coordination committee of NDFB created after signing of the Bodoland Territorial Region(BTR) accord.He said that the BTR must get all their legitimate dues as per the accord .
He declared that NDFB will contest in the upcoming BTC elections as independent candidates and the final nod would be given at a joint session of coordination meeting to be held in Udalguri district.
He said that if any political party extends help and support to the NDFB in coming days,they will extend full support to the concerned parties in the council elections.
He ,however,, made it clear that there was no decision of joining to the saffron party .
Saoraigwra faction of NDFB has expressed their dissatisfaction over sending of the NDFB founder president Ranjan Daimary to the jail today. Ranjan Daimary was out on bail for one month so that he could be one of the signatories of the third Bodo Accord .
President B Saoraigwra said even though,they had approached to the govt for general amnesty,yet he was sent to the jail today “,he said.
He said that the organisation is and will approach the govt for his general amnesty.
“BTR peace accord was a historic and it is paving the way healthy integration”, said ABSU general secretary Lawrence Islary.
He has refuted BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary’s remarks on the BTR accord and said that Hagrama Mohilary himself was also part of the signing of the BTR accord on Jan27 last after the tripartite peace talks.
He said that the BTR accord would parliamentary approval in the upcoming Parliament session and will become an act.
Notably,the Bodoland Territorial Region was created through a tripartite peace talks with centre,state,NDFB leaders and ABSU on Jan 27 last that brought an arms free society in the region.
An warm welcome ceremony was organised at Patgaon in Kokrajhar district today to accord warm welcome and felicitation to the third Bodo accord signatories.
NDFB-S leaders including president B Saoraigwra,general secretary BR Ferenga,ABSU general secretary Lawrence Islary,UPPL president Urkhao Gwra Brahma were offered warm felicitations with traditional Aronai and flowers.
Meanwhile,former president of All Bodo Students Union(ABSU) Pramod Boro and several leaders from different organizations are likely to join in the United People’s Party Liberal(UPPL) at a special convention being organised on Friday at Borlesiagaon Bijni in Chirang district.
According to a source,Boro is likely going to join in the UPPL party during the special session of the party.Several leaders from different organisation,parties are also going to join the UPPL party ahead the council elections.
Bijni is all set to welcome the delegates and participants from different districts of the Bodoland Territorial Council region at the special convention of United People’s Party Liberal(UPPL) which is scheduled to begin from Friday with two-day programme in Chirang district.
There are nearly 1500 delegates who are going to participate in the convention where many reshuffles would be done within the party .
“The party is discussing on the party affairs as well strategy of the party as BTC election is approaching soon “,said a senior UPPL leader.
