Kokrajhar(Assam) , April 17: Assam Social welfare minister and in-charge of Kokrajhar district, Pramila Rani Brahma said said that the the decision to conduct the Council election in BTC region is entirely in the hands of the Governor as he is the head of the sixth scheduled council administration.
the BTC election was postponed for indefinite period due to COVID-19 outbreak which was supposed to be held on April 4 last.
The Present BPF ruled BTC administration will end on April 27.
She said that people and the political parties in the council area ,are waiting anxiously on what decision the governor takes on holding of BTC election.
Today a review meeting which was held at Commerce College here that discussed the preparedness and readiness for the COVID-19 outbreak as state government and health & family welfare department has been initiating measures to control the spread of Coronavirus in the district since the nationwide lockdown started.
Deputy Commissioner,Kokrajhar Partha Pratim Majumdar,SP Rakesh Roushan and several other senior officials from different line departments attended the review meeting and briefed her about about the activities in the district during the lockdown period.
The minister emphasized the need to distribute food to the needy people during the lockdown period and ensure that no one stays hungry .
