Guwahati (Assam), July 6 : The alarming rise in Covid cases in the state especially in the capital city is on . On Sunday the state recorded a total of 735 new cases with 552 alone in Guwahati .
Addressing media , Health Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma that community spread of Covid-19 has taken place in the state’s biggest city, Guwahati and the rest of Kamrup Metro district and indicated that the ongoing total lockdown to control the pandemic may tbe extended as the figures have not come down within 7 days and decision will be taken on July 12 .
In the last 10 days Guwahati recorded 2,741 positive cases and almost all the cases are from community transmission.
However,even as the numbers rise, there is a silver lining as well. A total of 690 patients were discharged today from various hospitals in the state after full recovery .
The Minister tweeted , “📌Alert ~ 735 new #COVID+ cases detected today, out of which 552 from Guwahati City alone. Request people to maintain vigilance & take strict precautions.”
