Guwahati (Assam), Oct 7 : The elections to the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) which has been postponed due to Covid pandemic will now be held in the month of December.
The Assam Cabinet which met under the chairmanship of Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has decided to convey its decision to the state election commission .
Yesterday , Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal chaired an all-party meeting at Assam Administrative Staff College to discuss the issue of the BTC election and the current scenario in the region.
Principal secretary to the health department, Samir Kumar Sinha, gave a detailed presentation on Covid situation in the state .
The Cabinet today also decided that Bodo will be the associate official language for the state of Assam and a Bodo Kachari Autonomous Welfare Council will be constituted outside the sixth schedule area.
Keeping in view the recent Assam police SI scam , it was decided that 5 universities in the state will henceforth conduct the recruitment examinations other the respective department will conduct the recruitment process.
It was also decided that public services’ recruitment examinations will no longer be outsourced to private organizations.
