Guwahati (Assam), May 7 : Eight more persons including 4 from capital Guwahati and four from Cachar district have tested positive for Covid-19 in the state today , taking the total number of cases in the state to 53, State health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
Health Minister Sarma in a tweet at 10.10 pm said , ‘ Alert ~ 4 persons in Guwahati test #COVID19 + One of them have come from outside Assam, and is in home quarantine,while 3 are from Guwahati.’
Regarding the cases from Cachar district Minister Sarma in a tweet said that all four persons were travelling on the same bus from Ajmer in Rajasthan, in which the coronavirus positive man from Cachar district traveled.
He tweeted at 9.30 pm “Alert ~ 4 persons, who took the same bus from Rajasthan in which the Cachar dist #COVID19 + person travelled, have tested positive too. Total #COVID19 patients in Assam now stands at 49,”
Now the total COVID19 patients in Assam stands at 53 with 18 Active cases , 34 discharged and 1 death.
