Shillong (Meghalaya), Jan 14: India’s 10th Armed Forces Veterans’ Day was marked with a significant milestone as MILVEST and IIM Shillong celebrated the graduation of over 1,500 military personnel and their families from the Management Essentials program. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between military experience and corporate expectations, equipping veterans with skills in AI, Big Data, and Six Sigma .
The program, conducted in collaboration with IIM Shillong, offers a blend of elite education and flexibility, delivered through online webinars and seminars. Participants praised the structured approach, which included recorded sessions, pre-reads, quizzes, and assignments. The curriculum also featured modules on facility management, digital designing, LinkedIn optimization, and résumé building .
Lt Gen Mohit Wadhwa, SM, highlighted the program’s inclusive structure, where officers, JCOs, other ranks, and military spouses learned together, reflecting a shift towards skill-based capabilities. Capt (IN) Vinay Singh, founder of MILVEST, emphasized the organization’s commitment to empowering veterans for success in civilian careers.
The event was attended by dignitaries, including Air Marshal Surat Singh, AOC-in-C, Eastern Air Command, and Prof. Naliniprava Tripathy, Director (i/c) of IIM Shillong. With 60,000 personnel retiring annually, MILVEST and IIM Shillong are addressing the growing need for reskilling among the armed forces community.
