Shillong ( Meghalaya ), April 6 : All India Trinamool Congress MLA and leader of the opposition Dr.Mukul Sangma on Tuesday visited the disputed border areas of Maikhuli Pillangkhatta .
During his visit, Sangma talked to the villagers about the portion of the land which is in dilemma.
Later talking to reporters , Dr, Mukul said there is an inherent complexity associated with the ‘areas of difference’ along the Assam-Meghalaya boundary.
He said that the survey of India could not measure the land perfectly which led to the problem and Assam encroached the land which actually belongs to Meghalaya.
Taking a dig at CM Conrad Sangma , Dr . Sangma said “Meghalaya has a chief minister who is agreeing to everything”.
“The land in Meghalaya belongs to the people and the government should respect the Himas and adhere to the customary laws and practices”, Dr. Sangma added .
