Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 20: In a groundbreaking move, Meghalaya has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the renowned Van Leer Foundation (VLF), a global organization dedicated to improving early childhood development (ECD) outcomes. This strategic partnership aims to integrate human-centric interventions into Meghalaya’s governance framework, ultimately transforming the lives of its youngest citizens .
The MoU was signed between Principal Secretary & Development Commissioner, Sampath Kumar, and Ms. Rushda Majeed, Chief Program Officer (Global), Van Leer Foundation, at a ceremony attended by senior officials. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in Meghalaya’s commitment to ECD, building upon the state’s existing initiatives to support the holistic development of children.
The Van Leer Foundation brings its vast expertise in ECD, garnered from over 70 years of experience, to support Meghalaya’s efforts. The partnership will enable the state to leverage best practices, technical assistance, and capacity-building programs to enhance its ECD ecosystem.
This development is part of Meghalaya’s broader strategy to prioritize ECD, recognizing its critical role in shaping the state’s future. By investing in its youngest citizens, Meghalaya aims to create a stronger, more resilient foundation for its communities.
