Kokrajhar( Assam) ,May 2: UPPL has won in six constituencies out of the 11 contesting seats while BPF won four seats in the Assam assembly elections today across the four districts of the Bodoland Territorial Region.
UPPL candidate for Sidli constituency of Chirang district, Jayanta Basumatary defeated sitting BPF MLA and three time minister Chandan Brahma by a heavy margin of votes.
UPPL candidate for Udalguri constituency and BTC deputy chief Gabinda Chandra Basumatary defeated sitting BPF MLA and two time Assam cabinet minister Rihan Daimary by a huge margin of votes.
In Chapaguri LAC, UPPL candidate Urkhao Gwra Brahma defeated his nearest BPF candidate Hitest Basumatary.
UPPL candidate from Barama constituency Bhupen Boro defeated BPF candidate Prabin Boro while UPPL candidate for Tamulpur constituency Lehoram Boro won by a huge margin of votes against the BPF candidate .
In Gossaigaon constituency, BPF candidate Majendra Narzary defeated UPPL candidate Somnath Narzary by a margin of 10291 votes.
Narzary got 69790 votes while UPPL candidate Somnath managed to get 59499 votes.
In Kokrajhar West, BPF candidate Rabiram Narzary defeated UPPL candidate Manaranjan Brahma by 12233 votes.
Narzary got 76826 votes while Brahma polled 64593 votes.
In Mazbat, BPF chief Charan Boro defeated BJP’s candidate Jitu Kishan.
Durga Das Boro of BPF won the Kalaigaon seat defeating BJP candidate Madhuram Deka.
BJP won two seats in Panery and Bijni constituencies at the time of filling of this report.
Biswajit Daimary of BJP won the Panery seat defeating BPF candidate Kamala Kanta Swargiary.
In Bijni, BJP candidate Ajay Kumar Roy won defeating sitting BPF sitting MLA Kamalsingh Narzary by a margin of 914 votes.
UPPL president and BTR CEM Pramod Boro said that this election was people’s election and accordingly UPPL party won six constituencies across the BTR districts.
He has thanked all voters and termed that it was people’s win for healthy development .
He said that the NDA alliance is forming the next government for paving the way for healthy integration among the society in the state.
Meanwhile, in a massive winning of 20,095 UPPL candidate for Kokrajhar East constituency Lawrence Islary defeated sitting MLA and two time Assam cabinet minister Pramila Rani Brahma by a margin of 20,095 votes .
Islary was the former general secretary of ABSU and one of the BTR accord signatories and contested on UPPL party ticket.
Islary was maintaining a lead since counting started at 8 am in the morning.
Islary got 83515 votes till the completion of 21 rounds of the counting while BPF candidate and Social Welfare Minister , Pramila Rani Brahma polled 63420 votes .
Islary said that he won the Kokrajhar East constituency with support of the common masses as they want massive development and welfare.
