Shillong (Meghalaya), May 7: In compliance with the Ministry of Home Affairs’ directive, the Directorate of Civil Defence & Home Guards, Meghalaya, conducted a statewide Civil Defence Exercise on Air Raid today. The exercise simulated an air raid scenario, testing the state’s preparedness and response to emergency situations.
The exercise was conducted in all 12 districts of Meghalaya, with special emphasis on East Khasi Hills, West Jaintia Hills, and West Garo Hills. At 4 PM sharp, the Civil Defence setup sprang into action, with district-level controllers and volunteers working together to implement measures like blackout and evacuation.
The exercise aimed to assess the state’s preparedness in responding to emergency situations and to identify areas for improvement. The successful conduct of the exercise demonstrates Meghalaya’s commitment to civil defence and emergency preparedness.
With district magistrates overseeing the exercise and deputy controllers and CD wardens working together, the exercise was a valuable learning experience for all involved. It will help in enhancing the state’s response to emergency situations and ensuring the safety and security of its citizens.
