Shillong (Meghalaya), Mar 26: In a significant move ,Ms . Rabecca Suchiang, a distinguished public servant, has been appointed as the Chief Information Commissioner of Meghalaya. Suchiang, a retired Chief Secretary of Meghalaya, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role, which is expected to strengthen the state’s information commission.
The Cabinet has also approved several key initiatives aimed at supporting farmers, workers, and promoting transparency and accountability. The cabinet meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, cleared several important proposals.
The Cabinet approved several key decisions, including the CM ASSURE market intervention scheme to support small and marginal farmers, revised minimum wages for workers, and regularization of 850 ad hoc employees appointed before 2007.
Other key decisions include amendments to the Meghalaya Factories Rules, doubling of annual special casual leave for state government employees, and implementation of the Town and Country Planning Scheme.
The creation of the Meghalaya Social Welfare Recruitment Board and the purchase of a building in Bangalore for accommodating visitors from Meghalaya were also approved.
