Shillong (Meghalaya ), Nov 9: The Two-Day “State-Level Children Science Congress” jointly organised by State Council of Science, Technology & Environment (SCSTE), Meghalaya and Science Departments, Shillong College, Shillong held on Nov 8 & 9 supported and catalyzed by NCSTC, DST, Government of India came to an end today at the Shillong College Auditorium, here.
The programme was organised as part of the 31 st National Children’s Science Congress as well as one of the events to mark the Diamond Jubilee Celebration of Teaching Science in Shillong College.
The Theme of NCSC 2023 is “Understanding Ecosystem for Health and Wellbeing”.
S. Tembe, IAS, Director of the Directorate of School Education and Literacy attended the Inaugural Function as the Chief Guest where in his speech, he encouraged all the participants that participation is more important than winning.
Hanika Barim of Mynken Christian Hr. Sec. School, Bhoirymbong, Jessica Marwein of St. Ferrando Sec. School, Sawsymper and Albin L Marshillong of St. Joseph Hr. Sec. School, Nongkasen who secured in top 20 rank in merit list of MBOSE were felicitated with cash prize and a memento.
Dr.(Mrs.) E. Kharkongor, Principal, Shillong College and A.S Suting, Retd. Assistant Project Director, S& T Cell, Planning Department, Govt. of Meghalaya spoke during the Inaugural Function.
Out of the 64 selected Project teams shortlisted from all the 12 District, eight projects were selected to represent the State at the National level to be held in the month of December 2023.The eight projects selected includes three teams from the Junior category and five teams from the Senior category.
