Shillong, Aug 18: Meghalaya has lost one of its most respected administrators with the passing of former Chief Secretary Ms. Rebecca V. Suchiang.
Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma expressed grief, calling her a pioneer who broke barriers as the state’s first indigenous woman Chief Secretary.
“She made bold decisions at tough times and was respected for her leadership among her peers, her guidance to her juniors and her inspiring work ethics,” the CM said.
Rebecca Suchiang fought bravely during her illness and continued to serve the state even while unwell, a commitment colleagues remembered as defining her career.
The Chief Minister said her service and dedication to Meghalaya will be long remembered. He extended deepest condolences to her family and loved ones.
May she rest in peace.
