Shillong (Meghalaya), Mar 24: In a significant step towards the completion of Meghalaya’s new Assembly building, Speaker Thomas A. Sangma inspected the construction site at Mawdiangdiang and chaired a comprehensive review meeting . The meeting aimed to assess the progress of the under-construction building and address any challenges hindering its completion.
Deputy Speaker Timothy D. Shira, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, and other top officials, including Commissioner & Secretary Dr. Andrew Simons and Additional Secretary Malthus Sangma, attended the meeting. Representatives from various line departments, such as the Public Works Department (PWD) and Design Associates, were also present to provide updates and address concerns.
The new Assembly building is being constructed to replace the old one, which was destroyed by fire in 2001. The project is expected to be completed soon, with the Speaker expressing his commitment to completing it at the earliest.
