Tura( Meghalaya) ,May 28: Just a day after the Accounts Officer of the GHADC was charged for running away and virtually ramming his car over the agitating members of the NGEA, the secretary of the GHADC, HA Sangma filed a counter FIR at the Tura PS late last night.
In the video that has gone viral , members of NGEA are seen checking vehicles that were leaving the GHADC office on Thursday evening . Though initially there seems to be no problem with the assistant accounts officer who was being accosted, later the NGEA members try to force the person out of the vehicle after which he apparently drives off in fear.
In between ,the officers car rammed over few of them leaving 2 employees injured .After the incident , the NGEA members filed a FIR against the officer .
The GHADC Secretary filed a counter FIR against the NGEA members after the incident, alleging the group were illegally trying to block his vehicle without following the Covid -19 protocols .
In the FIR, the principal secretary of GHADC mentioned that the agitation by the NGEA for release of their pending salaries had started since the time of Administrator Rule which they are continuing despite the present EC taking over charge of GHADC.
The FIR says that the new EC took the issue of pending salaries with the NGEA very seriously and tried to resolve the matter amicably.
”The officers were coming to the office in order to complete the formalities and prepare bills”, the FIR stated .
“At about 4 PM when the EC members and other officer were coming out from the office premises, leaders of NGEA and others have without any authority caused illegal obstruction and stopped the vehicles of the members and officers and illegally started to search/check their vehicles thereby showing disrespect to the elected members who are also their authorities with intention to cause insult and humiliation to the elected members,” stated the FIR.
The FIR mentioned the names of Briten M Sangma, (Secretary), Senora Johny Arengh (President NGEA), Flaming B Marak (Jt Secretary), Balseng M Sangma (Adviser), Chris Jenny Ch Marak, Tengsmey Sangma, Sengmilla Ch Momin and Henyvirth Marak (all members of the NGEA) who were supposedly involved in the incident.
The incident involving the assistant accounts officer, Glory Hasting Marak was stated and how the employees charged him with the intention to get him out of his vehicle to assault him.
The officer in question fled from the scene leaving two employees with minor injuries.
The FIR added that the NGEA movement was politically motivated after one Rakie Sangma, who is not an employee, was allowed to address the employees
“The NGEA has literally taken law into their hands by resorting to all such illegal acts. They have no right to obstruct their authorities and have no power to cause obstruction while the elected members and the officers are discharging their official duties. Further when the administration has ordered total curfew, the employees have clearly violated the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases Covid 19 Regulations 2020,” stated the FIR filed by the principal secretary.
