Shillong(Meghalaya),July 10: With at least 65 BSF personnel testing positive for Covid ,the state government declared the entire Frontier Headquarters BSF Campus in the Rynjah area as a containment zone.
As per the order unregulated entry/exit movement on the campus site is restricted and prevents any person from either going into or moving out of the BSF campus.
Inhabitants within the BSF campus have been asked to stay indoors and restriction has been put on gatherings, events or functions.
All government & private institutions and shopping establishment has been ordered to shut down immediately and the govt will arrange for supply of medicine and other essentials, the order stated.
This morning the CM Conrad Sangma tweeted ,”28 persons from BSF campus in Umpling area of Shillong have tested positive. All are under quarantine.”
Meanwhile The North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) in the outskrits of the city will shut down hospital services including OPD and emergency services till further orders after a resident of BSF headquarters, Umpling tested positive for coronavirus.
Acccording to an order by its director, Dr P Bhattacharryya the indoor patient care services, will however , remain operational.
The order stated that there has been an inadvertent exposure to COVID-19 in NEIGRIHMS on Thursday.
“The patient, a resident of BSF, Umpling had a RT-PCR test done on July 1 which was negative. He was subsequently admitted in the Orthopedics ward (non-COVID ward) on July 4 based on his recent report. He developed fever during his stay and on July 9, a repeat RT-PCR was done which was positive,” the order stated .
The order stated ,as the patient has had an extensive contact footprint in the hospital, the NEIGRIHMS authority said that the hospital now has to be decontaminated and internal contact tracing is to be undertaken.
“This being a major exercise, the NEIGRIHMs hospital services including OPD and emergency services will be closed till further orders,” the order said .
