Shillong( Meghalaya ), June 26 : 1 more Covid positive cases was detected in Ri Bhoi district of Meghalaya .
The person who tested positive had returned to his village on June 24 and was working as a driver of a milk van in Guwahati and was working for two months.
State Chief Minister , Conrad Sangma tweeted today , “One more traveller who came from Assam has tested positive for COVID19 in Ri-Bhoi District and has been kept under quarantine,Total Positive cases 47, Total Active cases 4
Meanwhile the government has cautioned the citizens of the state not to travel to neighbouring Guwahati due sudden spike in Covid cases .
Deputy chief minister Prestone Tynsong said that the people of the state to refrain from travelling to Guwahati, except only on emergency .
He said application and No Objection Certificate should be obtained from the respective deputy commissioners for travelling outside the state.
The state government had earlier earlier issued strict restrictions on people from Assam from entering the state in wake of the the sudden surge in the neighboring state .
Surprisingly , the government has allowed reopening of hotels in the state from July 1 . The deputy chief minister said standard operating procedures and protocols will be issued to all concerned regarding the reopening of hotels.
A total of 18,037 samples have been sent for testing, of which 17,741 samples tested negative while the reports of 240 samples are awaited. Till date a total of 18, 358 citizens who were stranded outside have returned back.
