New Delhi, Oct 21: India’s higher education landscape is undergoing a significant overhaul, driven by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, according to Prof. GD Sharma, Vice Chancellor of the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) and former President of the Association of Indian Universities.
Speaking at a workshop on “Internationalization at Indian Higher Education Institutions – Structures and Services” in Guwahati, organized by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), Prof. Sharma emphasized that NEP 2020 is providing Indian universities and colleges with the tools to reshape their educational ecosystems.
“Higher education in India is at a crossroads,” Prof. Sharma remarked, highlighting the need for adaptation and growth. He noted that NEP 2020 is fostering innovative pedagogies, greater flexibility, and autonomy in education, enabling institutions to redefine their approaches.
Prof. Sharma stressed that NEP 2020 is facilitating international partnerships and knowledge sharing, crucial for India’s higher education sector. He also underscored the importance of globalization and collaboration in shaping the country’s educational landscape.
