Shillong( Meghalaya), June 6: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma led a tree plantation program at the new Assembly building campus in Mawdiangdiang, Shillong, on Friday. He planted a Conocarpus erectus (Buttonwood) sapling during the event, symbolizing the state’s commitment to environmental conservation.
Speaking at the event, CM Sangma emphasized that planting trees is not just an environmental contribution but also a powerful commitment to future generations. He expressed gratitude to Speaker Thomas A Sangma for organizing the initiative and highlighted the significance of the location, making it a special moment.
The Chief Minister also reflected on Meghalaya’s consistent efforts to preserve its natural resources, underscoring the state’s dedication to sustainability and conservation. The event was attended by officials from the Assembly, Forest Department, and other government departments, promoting community involvement in environmental initiatives.
