Shillong ( Meghalaya ), Feb 21 : Union home minister Amit Shah on Tuesday canceled his campaign in Meghalaya as the chopper he was traveling in could not land at Umroi Airport in Shillong due to poor visibility and inclement weather.
Speaking to the supporters who had assembled to attend his rally over mobile , he made an ardent appeal to the supporters to vote for the BJP candidates for overall development of the state and the country .
Shah, who was scheduled to address two election rallies here , was on his way to the Shillong from Dimapur after attending another election rally in Nagaland. However , he stayed connected with the the supporters from Guwahati airport digitally .
The Union home minister spoke to the gathering at Gorkha Pathshala Field in the city under West Shillong constituency over phone explaining his inability to come and the need to ensure a corruption-free government in Meghalaya.
He also appealed to the supporters to cast their votes in favour of sitting BJP MAL Sanbor Shullai and BJP state president Earnest Mawrie .
