Shillong (Meghalaya) ,Feb 5 :Sobhan Acharya, a respected resident of Shillong, passed away on January 31, 2026, due to pneumonia complications at TriLife Hospital, Bengaluru. He was a dedicated public servant who worked with the Defence Accounts Department under the Ministry of Defence (Finance) and held various postings across Northeast India.

Acharya was known for his affable nature, sharp wit, and warmth, earning him widespread respect among colleagues and friends. His Ardhya Sraddha will be held on February 9, 2026, in Bangalore. He is survived by his brother, Sandeep Acharya, and sister, Sangeeta Borooah, who remember him fondly.
