Shillong (Meghalaya), Feb 18 : Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today informed that the state government has written again to the Centre to modify its earlier proposed amendment to the sixth schedule of the constitution of India by adding the word “Village Council” which is equivalent to “Dorbar Shnong” in the proposed amendment of the constitution .
Speaking to the locality elders of Mawkhar Dorbar Shnong at Mawkhar here, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said the state government has addressed their concern by asking the centre to tag along the word “Village Council” which is equivalent to Dorbar Shnong along with Village Dorbar, which is relevant with the Garo tribal community. “If this goes through, there will be a solid base from the constitutional perspective”, Sangma said.
