Shillong (Meghalaya ), March 12 : In a major breakthrough, East Jaintia Hills Police conducted a special operation on Friday night which led to the arrest of 4 hardcore criminals and recovery of one AK-47 rifle, AK series ammunition and several other incriminating materials.
Based on specific intelligence input, a hideout of the accused persons was busted by the police at Ryngsong Shylla near Umlawang village, East Jaintia Hills District .
During the raid, the 4 accused persons were arrested and one AK-47 rifle, 14 live rounds of AK series ammunition, machetes, one motor cycle B/R No. AS 27 D 2482 and several other incriminating materials was seized from their possesion .
One accomplice of the accused persons was also picked up from Guwahati with the help of Guwahati Police.
It is noteworthy to mention here that during preliminary interrogation, the accused persons revealed their involvement in the recent robbery cases of Petrol Refilling Centers at Khliehriat, Shillong and Ri bhoi.
