Shillong (Meghalaya), Mar 25: In a significant verdict, the Hon’ble Court of Smti. Swapna G. Momin, Special Judge (POCSO) East Khasi Hills, Shillong, has convicted Kluston Ryntathiang in Laban PS Case No. 128 (12) 2015, for a heinous crime against a minor.
The court sentenced the convict to rigorous imprisonment for 14 years and a fine of Rs. 10,000 under the POCSO Act. In default of the fine, he will undergo simple imprisonment for an additional 2 months. Additionally, he has been sentenced to imprisonment for 3 years and a fine of Rs. 5,000 under Section 506 IPC.
Inspector Phrianglin Syiem, currently posted as Reserve Inspector at Police Reserve, Shillong, investigated the case. This judgment underscores the court’s commitment to protecting children from abuse and ensuring justice for victims.
