Shillong, Sep 29: Marking a solemn entry into the healing profession, the MIT School of Nursing under MIT University of Meghalaya held the lamp lighting and oath-taking ceremony for its second batch of General Nursing and Midwifery students.
The ceremony, themed “Illuminating Humanity: The Beginning of a Lifelong Commitment to Care”, saw young nursing aspirants light their lamps as a symbol of knowledge, hope and compassion, before taking the pledge to serve with dignity and ethical commitment.
Addressing the students, Pro Vice Chancellor and Registrar Dr. Debmalya Bhattacharya reminded them that nursing demands more than clinical expertise and said true caregiving rests on empathy, patience, courage and humility. He urged the batch to embrace lifelong learning and a strong sense of purpose as they step into healthcare service.
Principal Malynda Marbaniang, Vice Principal Elgina Darilang Shabong, deans, faculty members, parents and invited guests joined the occasion, which the university described as not merely a tradition but the beginning of a lifelong promise to care for humanity.
