Shillong, Sep 29: In a big political gain for the BJP in Jaintia Hills, former Nartiang legislator Draison Kharshiing today joined the party along with 200 supporters.

Kharshiing, who represented Nartiang as MLA from 2003-2008 and held the MDC post for three straight terms from 1989-2004, is considered a strong grassroots leader in West Jaintia Hills.
His joining is expected to significantly bolster BJP’s organisational base in Jaintia Hills and Meghalaya ahead of upcoming elections, party sources said.
