New Delhi, Sep 24 : Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday demanded resignation on of Gyanesh Kumar as Chief Election Commissioner saying that the media revelation has, beyond doubt, vindicated what he has been saying for the last many months.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, Gandhi said that the results of the Haryana, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh assembly polls contradicted the wave of anti-incumbency in these states.
Gandhi praised the two Election Commissioners by raising their dissent notes and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah can’t escape their responsibilities. Gandhi charged the duo with trying to hijack laws and autonomous organizations.
The leader of Opposition said PM Modi and Amit Shah recruited Gyanesh Kumar as CEC and now two election commissioners are not at all satisfied with Kumar. He said that elections, including the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and assembly elections, were being “rigged.”
