Shillong , Sep 22: Champions Langsning are back on top. A three-goal blitz in the second half gave them a 3-0 win over Nangkiew Irat in the Shillong Premier League at SSA Stadium today.
Substitute Samuel Phawa broke the deadlock in the 65th minute, Syed Ahmed headed in five minutes later, and Mebanshngain Kurkalang sealed it in the 79th.
The win puts Langsning on 13 points from six games, two ahead of Mawlai and Lajong. Mawlai have a game in hand. Nangkiew Irat remain eighth on 7 points.
First half was tight. Nangkiew’s Yhoto Lohe threatened but missed the target, while Langsning’s Kyrmenskhem Mukhim hit the side net and Richie Kharbani was denied by keeper Surjay Pariyar.
Langsning took control after the break, catching Nangkiew napping for the opener before Ahmed and Mebanshngain finished the job.
Nangkiew’s Wallamsuk Nongkhlaw had two late chances but fired wide.
Rangdajied United vs Nongkseh at 3 pm tomorrow – both locked on 7 points with Nangkiew.
