Shillong ( Meghalaya),April 1 : A 32-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly murdering a seven-year-old boy in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills district. The child went missing on October 8, 2025, and his body was later found in a syntax tank at his home.
According to police, the accused, out of anger, forcefully smothered the boy and put him in the syntax tank. He then hid the body in the backyard, placed it in a plastic sack, and dumped it on the roadside using his cousin’s scooty.
The accused was seen leaving the area between 4:15 PM and 4:50 PM and returned within an hour. The investigation involved a massive search operation, forensic analysis, and scientific evidence collection.
Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills District, Vivek Syiem, stated that the accused will be produced before court, and police remand will be taken to complete the investigation process.
The arrest has brought relief to the community but also raised concerns about the safety of children in the area.
