New Delhi, Sept 13: On the second and final day of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grave concern over the growing trend to weaponise technology saying that it could destroy the world have achieved so far on these critical fronts.
In his address in the morning at the Bharat Mandapam flanked by top leaders including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Modi said BRICS was a union of various continents, cultures apart from being a testament to the growing strength, attraction, and unwavering confidence.
He said, “weaponisation of technology can create hurdles for common growth. Therefore, we have emphasised inclusivity in the adoption of technology.”
“The global tensions are increasing, which is negatively affecting the common man. Pandemics, climate change disasters and supply chain disruptions have shown that in the current interconnected world, no crisis remains confined to a single region. Therefore, we have placed special focus on enhancing resilience within the BRICS group,” said Modi in his address.
He observed that the BRICS Network on Digital Agriculture might be instrumental in creating new opportunities for farmers.
