Shillong (Meghalaya),March 31 : Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma launched Mission 1000 Days, a ₹127 crore initiative aimed at improving nutrition and early childhood development outcomes for children in the state. The program focuses on the critical period from conception to two years of age, providing support to mothers and children through financial assistance, nutrition, training, and awareness programs.
The mission addresses persistent challenges such as stunting, poor nutrition, and gaps in early childhood care, particularly in rural areas. Key components include capacity building of frontline workers, community-based nutrition interventions, and technology-enabled tracking of mothers and children.
Chief Minister Sangma emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader effort to address core human development challenges through a focused and evidence-based approach. He also highlighted the importance of collective action, urging stakeholders to contribute actively to the mission’s success.
