Shillong (Meghalaya), Jan 2: Meghalaya’s brightest young minds are gearing up to dazzle at the 29th National Youth Festival, 2026, in New Delhi, thanks to a rousing orientation program led by Governor C.H. Vijayashankar. The state’s 50-member contingent is all set to represent Meghalaya with pride, showcasing their talents and innovations on the national stage.
The festival, scheduled from Jan 9th to 12th, promises to be an exciting event, with four key components: Youth Leader Dialogue, Cultural Tracks, Design for Bharat, and Hack for Social Change. Among the selected delegates are NIT Shillong students Nishant Kr. Singh and Neeharika Singh, who’ve been chosen for their game-changing “Smart Braille Watch” under the ‘Design for Bharat’ category.
Governor Vijayashankar inspired the young delegates, emphasizing the power of determination and hard work. Quoting Rabindranath Tagore, he said, “God is there where there is a hard-working man,” urging them to make Meghalaya proud. The selected delegates will present their ideas and vision at the National Level and meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 11th, 2026.
This milestone marks a significant step in Meghalaya’s youth empowerment journey, showcasing the state’s potential on the national stage. With their talent, passion, and dedication, Meghalaya’s youth are ready to make their mark.
