Shillong (Meghalaya), Oct 3: The picturesque village of Dympep in Shillong recently played host to “Ki Dienjat ka Dympep,” a spectacular festival that harmoniously blended art, music, and indigenous games with a profound message of sustainability and community well-being. Organized by NEEPCO in collaboration with Pynche, the event was a testament to the region’s rich cultural heritage and its commitment to a greener future.
Under the theme of Swachh Utsav, the festival featured an array of captivating performances, including a stirring live show by the legendary Lou Majaw, whose soulful voice enthralled the audience. The event also showcased the talents of local students from Dympep LP/UP School, who wowed the crowd with their energetic performances.
The festival’s highlights included the Clay Art Space, where local artists showcased their creative skills, and the Culinary and Sculptor Workshops, which offered attendees a chance to learn traditional art forms. The “Seasoned by the Rains – Food Experience” was another major draw, featuring local produce and sustainable food practices that underscored the importance of community-driven sustainability initiatives.
The event was graced by notable guests, including Sohra MLA Gavin Miguel Mylliem and Padmashree Patricia Mukhim, who emphasized the significance of preserving cultural heritage while promoting sustainable practices.
