Shillong ( Meghalaya), Sep 30 : In a shocking display of audacity, a gang of ladies has been targeting devotees at Shillong’s Durga Puja pandals, snatching gold chains with lightning speed during the sacred puspanjali ritual. The brazen thefts, reported at the Jail Road Durga Puja Committee premises and Bharat Sevasharam Sangha, have left 4-5 devotees bereft of their precious ornaments.
The thieves seem to have mastered the art of striking at the most opportune moment, capitalizing on the devotees’ reverent distraction during the ritual. An FIR has been lodged, and authorities are hot on the trail of the culprits.
As the festive fervor reaches its crescendo, the incident has raised concerns about security at public gatherings. With authorities racing against time to crack the case, devotees are advised to remain vigilant and safeguard their valuables. The police are scrutinizing CCTV footage, determined to unmask the perpetrators and restore peace of mind to the community.
