Shillong(Meghalaya), Aug 20: In a thrilling match of the Shillong Premier League 2025, Sawmer came from behind to defeat Nongrim Hills 4-2 at the SSA Stadium. Super substitute Khainkupar Iawphniaw was the hero for Sawmer, scoring a late brace to seal the win.
Diego Khyriem gave Sawmer an early lead in the 36th minute, but Bankitboklang Nongrum equalized for Nongrim Hills just before halftime. Khrawkupar Tamu restored Sawmer’s lead in the 51st minute, only for Banpynkmenlang Kharsati to level the score again in the 76th minute.
However, Khainkupar’s clinical finishing in the 80th and 85th minutes ensured Sawmer’s victory. The win was crucial for Sawmer, who had lost their opening fixture 6-2 to Mawlai. Nongrim Hills, who had suffered a 3-1 defeat to Nangkiew Irat in their opener, will be looking to bounce back from this loss.
