Shillong (Meghalaya), Aug 13 : Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has laid the foundation for the Improvement of Infrastructures and Public Amenities Project in Iewduh, here , marking a significant milestone in the region’s development journey. The project, funded by the North Eastern Council (NEC), aims to transform Iewduh into a thriving economic hub with modern infrastructure and public amenities.
During the event, Sangma distributed cheques of the CM Urban Livelihood Grant to beneficiaries from Iewduh, highlighting the government’s commitment to empowering local communities. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar, and Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh.
Recalling his childhood visits to Iewduh, Sangma expressed his disappointment at the lack of development in the area despite its economic importance. He emphasized that the project will bridge the gap between Iewduh’s potential and its current state, aligning with the state’s goal of achieving a $10 billion economy. The development initiative is expected to boost economic activity, improve infrastructure, and enhance the quality of life for residents.
