Shillong ( Meghalaya), July , 29 : Shillong Lajong FC asserted their dominance in the Shillong Derby, defeating Rangdajied United FC 3-1 in a thrilling Group Stage encounter of the 134th IndianOil Durand Cup. The Red Dragons showcased their attacking flair and tactical discipline, outlasting their city rivals in front of a home crowd.
Sana Mylliempdah opened the scoring for Shillong Lajong in the 45’+1 minute, before Mebanshngain Kurkalang pulled one back for Rangdajied United FC in the 58′ minute. However, Iohborlang L Lyngdoh’s strike in the 66′ minute and Kharbuli’s goal in the 80′ minute sealed the win for Shillong Lajong.
The match was a closely contested affair, with both teams creating scoring opportunities. Rangdajied United FC’s high-octane aggression was matched by Shillong Lajong’s methodical transitions and control, ultimately proving insufficient to overcome the Red Dragons’ clinical edge.
