Shillong (Meghalaya), Dec 19: The 1st SYM Inter Academy Tournament concluded on a thrilling note, with St Anthony’s Cricket Academy and Shillong Cricket Academy (SCA) claiming the U-19 girls’ and U-14 boys’ titles, respectively.
The two finals, held at the Don Bosco Mini Stadium, saw the same teams competing, but with different outcomes. St Anthony’s secured a 38-run victory in the girls’ final, while SCA won the boys’ final by 22 runs.
The tournament, an initiative for grassroots level players, was actively supported by the Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA), the parent body of cricket activities in the state.
In the girls’ final, St Anthony’s posted a challenging total of 105/4 in 15 overs, with Dawanshisha Warlarpih top scoring with 38 runs, including six boundaries. Isha contributed 12 runs, while Jovita and Bafalynsai chipped in with 10 runs each.
The Meghalaya Cricket Association congratulated the winning teams and expressed its commitment to promoting cricket at the grassroots level.
