Shillong(Meghalaya), Dec 4 : In a significant milestone for Meghalaya’s tourism sector, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma unveiled the foundation stone for the Shillong Ropeway Project today, marking the official beginning of the project’s construction. The project, estimated to cost INR 175 Crore, is the state’s first passenger ropeway project and is expected to revolutionize the tourism landscape of Meghalaya.
The foundation stone was laid by President of India Droupadi Murmu on January 16 this year, in the presence of Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh. The project is being implemented by KEC International Limited – Tantia Construction Limited JV, which received the letter of acceptance from the chief minister and tourism minister today.
The Shillong Ropeway Project is a game-changer for Meghalaya’s tourism sector, offering breathtaking views of the city and surrounding landscapes. With construction set to begin, the project is expected to be completed soon, providing a major boost to the state’s tourism industry.
