Shillong(Meghalaya), Oct 6: The Shillong Book Fair, organized by the National Book Trust-India under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, witnessed an impressive turnout on its second day, defying Sunday blues. The pleasant weather added to the footfall, attracting bibliophiles of all ages to the State Central Library premises.
Swapnil Tembe Director, Department of Education , was among the notable visitors. “The collection here is quite good. I spent over an hour browsing and picked up 10 books,” said Tembe, renowned for innovative education initiatives in Meghalaya.
Tembe stressed the importance of regular reading, saying, “When we read books, we form images in our minds. We absorb knowledge, broaden perspectives, and enhance critical thinking.”
