Shillong ( Meghalaya) , Apr 16 : Acting on specific tip-off, troops of 43 Bn BSF Meghalaya on Saturday, April 15 2023, seized more than 5000 Kgs of dry betel nuts worth Rs.11 Lakhs which were being smuggled to India from Bangladesh.
The operation was carried out in the bordering area of Dampukaphal under PS- Rongra, South Garo hills.

The betel nuts were being carried in 2 vehicles when intercepted and confiscated by BSF, though, the drivers of these vehicles managed to escape from the spot.
The seized items were handed over to PS- Rongra for further legal action.
