Shillong ( Meghalaya ), Nov 26 : A high intensity earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter scale was felt along the Indo -Myanmar border on Friday morning, according to official sources .
The tremor was also felt a in Meghalaya , Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram Assam and West Bengal.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre’s (EMSC) website said that the quake was also felt as far away as Kolkata.
The jerk was so strong that majority of the people who were still asleep did not realize what was really happening .
The earthquake lasted for 30 seconds and occurred at 5.15.
An after shock was also felt at 5.53 am .
At the time of filing of this report no causality or major damage was reported from the entire region .
