Shillong ( Meghalaya ), Oct 4 : A crude improvised device was defused by the Police near the National People’s Party (NPP ) office here on Monday afternoon .
According to Police at around 3:40 pm an input was received from that a bag has been left unattended in front of the National People’s Party (NPP) Office in Lachumiere area .
Immediately the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) as well as police officials of East Khasi Hills District proceeded to the area to verify the information.
On reaching the spot the Police immediately cordoned the NPP office and its vicinity and thereafter, the BDDS officials inspected the unattended bag. On searching the bag, it was found that it contained crude improvised device which was instantly defused by the BDDS team.
A case under relevant provisions has been registered by Laitumkhrah Police Station against the members of the banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) who have made claims through social media about planting the explosive substances in front of NPP office.
