Kokrajhar (Assam) ,Sep 29: 12 militants belonging to the United Liberation for Bodoland (ULB) on Wednesday surrendered before the police at Badalapara forest area near Dimakuchi in Udalguri district .
The team was led by Madan Brahma alias B Mothur from Kazigaon in Kokrajhar district.
The ULB militants reached the Badalapara forest area under Dimakuchi police station from Indo-Bhutan border in Udalguri district.
The cadres who surrendered before the police have been identified as Pinjit Basumatary, Sukram Boro (B Sijou),Kampha Boro,Premjit Boro,Dhwrwmsat Brahma, Ritu Daimary, Sudem Brahma,Phungka Brahma,Laoga Brahma,Hiramba Basumatary and Utpal Daimary.
The ULB militants also handed several arms including hand grenades before the police.
BTR chief executive member (CEM) Pramod Boro welcomed the ULB militants who decided to return to the mainstream and shun violence and arms struggle.
Boro said BTR citizens want peace and harmony among the society and respecting their wishes they have returned to the mainstream.
