Imphal(Manipur), April 30 :Apart from essential service providers, a majority of the Greater Imphal residents stayed indoor on Friday.
The Manipur Government on Thursday declared the whole of the Greater Imphal area as a containment zone for seven days in view of the rise in COVID-19 cases in the state.
The state police monitored the said areas since morning. In most areas, police were on patrol asking shops to shut down after 10 a.m.
Manipur reported 271 fresh COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, 259 from the general public and 12 from personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), a release from the Manipur Health Department stated.
As per today’s report, the total number of active COVID-19 positives has reached to 1417 (1308 from the general public and 109 from the Central Security Personnel).
The state’s total positive cases is 31,586 (General Population 28,022 and Central Security Personnel 3,564). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 29,764 (General Population – 26,313 and Central Security Personnel – 3,451). The recovery rate is 94.23%.
With the new death of 5 persons, the state’s cumulative number of deaths has reached to 405.
