Imphal(Manipur), April 27: Amidst the Manipur Government trying to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus ever since the second wave hit the state, 15 individuals on Tuesday have been fined Rs 1000 each and sent to Jail for three days for violating COVID-19 guidelines and SoPs.
An order issued by the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Imphal West District, Manipur, stated that the alleged offence against the accused persons is u/S 32 of the Police Act, 1861. The particulars of the offence was explained to the accused persons and asked whether they plead guilty or not. The accused persons pleaded guilty for committing the aforesaid crime, it added.
Consequently, the accused persons were convicted and sentenced to pay a fine of Rs. 1000 each and ordered them to undergo SI (simple imprisonment) for three days.
Meanwhile, Manipur continues to report fresh positive cases in triple figures for the fifth day in a row, as 175 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours with three deaths. Out of the 175 new cases, 172 persons (104 male, 68 female) from general population and 3 personnel from Central Armed Police Force (CAPF), according to the Health Department.
The cumulative number of positive cases in the state is 30,742 (General Population 27,215 and Central Security Personnel 3,527). The cumulative number of recovered cases is 29,317 (General Population -25,869 and Central Security Personnel -3,448). The number of active cases is 1,032 (General Population – 957 and Central Security Personnel -75). The recovery rate is 95.36 %.
As per the latest information, 1,39,457 individuals have been vaccinated in the state.
