Shillong(Meghalaya),Nov7: 2 more COVID-19 patients succumbed to their infections today , taking the fatality count in the State to 93, while 68 more persons tested Covid positive taking the state tally to 10, 047 .
According to official sources the patients have been identified as Firmly Pale aged 58 years hailing from Mission Compound, Jowai. He was admitted to Bethany Hospital in here on Oct 29 and tested positive for the virus. He passed away early this morning. The cause of death was acute respiratory distress syndrome with Covid-19 pneumonia, chronic kidney disease, hypertension and severe anemia.
The second casulity was of Barnabas Pyngrope aged 54 years hailing from Rynjah area in Shillong. He was admitted to Nazareth Hospital and tested positive for Covid-19 on Oct 26. He also passed away early this morning. The cause of his death was due to Covid-19 pneumonia, chronic kidney disease with Type 2 diabetes, hypertension and hypothyroidism.
Meanwhile , 68 new Covid cases were detected in the state today which included 24 from East Khasi Hills, 18 from West Jaintia Hills, 9 from Ri Bhoi , 8 from West Garo Hills, 5 from South Garo Hills and 2 each from East Jaintia Hills and South West Garo Hills .
A total of 55 patients were declared recovered today .
Meghalaya so far recorded a total of 10, 047 cases and the active cases now stand at 995 after a total of 8,959 patients recovered and the no of deaths stand at 93.
