Dimapur (Nagaland), Sep 5: Along with the rest of the country, Nagaland also celebrated the Teacher’s Day with a state level programme held on Sunday at the Directorate of School Education, here .
Advisor for School Education, Nagaland, K.T Sukhalu, speaking at the programme acknowledged and lauded the teachers for their dedicated services , especially during the pandemic.
Urging all teachers to ensure that they are upto date with the methods of teachings, Sukhalu also urged the teachers to embrace the changes to reform education sector in the state which would come into force with the implementation of “National Educational Policy 2020.”
He further called upon the teachers to participate in the capacity building programme, National Initiative for School Heads and Teachers Holistic Advancement (NISHTHA), in order to upgrade their skills and take forward the profession to a higher level.
Special Secretary, Kevileno Angami, in her introductory note maintained that teachers are the “agents of change” without whom there would be no leaders, doctors, lawyers or nation builders.
She further called on the teachers to live exemplary live as they are the “role model” of the students.
Meanwhile, “State Teachers’ Award” for 2020 was conferred to 13 teachers, as official programme could not be held due to the pandemic, while for the year 2021, 21 teachers were conferred with the same award.
Five teachers were also handed over financial assistance.
