Guwahati (Assam) , Feb 4 : On the occasion of ‘World Cancer day 2021’, Indiatourism North East in association with Byatikram MASDO celebrated the day by visiting the cancer patients of the State Cancer Institute at Guwahati Medical College Hospital .
To uplift the spirit of the cancer patients the entire team celebrated the day with great enthusiasm.
The program was attended by Sankha Subhra Devbarman, Regional Director, India Tourism North East; Dr. Bibhash Chandra Goswami, Director, State Cancer Institute; Dr. Devajit Choudhury, Superintendent, State Cancer Institute; Dr. Neelakshi Mahanta, Professor Medical Oncology, Dr. NK Kalita, Professor & Consultant of Oncology, State Cancer Institute; Dr. Saumen Bharatiya, President of Byatikram MASDO, the faculty members and staff of the State Cancer Institute and others.
The Director of the State Cancer Institute, Dr. Bibhash Chandra Goswami while delivering his speech said that “PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE”, so to live a healthy life we should eat healthy, and to fight against a disease like cancer one must be careful in the early detection and proper treatment”.
Shri Sankha Subhra Devbarman while delivering his speech to supported and encouraged the cancer patients. He said that Govt. of India along with tourism department is involved in medical and wellness where people are getting treatment at an affordable price.
Dr. Saumen Bharatiya while delivering his speech said that Byatikram MASDO will keep on engaging in such activities raising awareness among people.
Other eminent guests also urged to prevent and ensure early diagnosis, taking proper treatment and to spread the message to break some myths and superstitions related to cancer to the world as well as in the scientific society.
The program was proceeded by the cake cutting ceremony baked by Jabin Akhtar, Cake Owner of the Baking Tale in order to celebrate the occasion.
The State Cancer Hospital has a dedicated team of Surgical, Medical and Radiation Oncologist, Pain & Palliative care, Anaesthesia and Critical care specialists who are rendering selfless services to cancer patients in Assam and and the neighbouring states .
